Building a Visual Identity for a Growing Community

Some partnerships begin with a project. Others begin with trust, shared values, and a desire to preserve something meaningful for future generations.

Our partnership with Serbian Orthodox Church communities in Germany began when the parish in Albstadt acquired its new church and wanted to create a visual identity that truly reflected its mission. We believed that such an important place deserved to be presented with care from the very beginning—in a way that would help people recognize it, remember it, and feel welcomed.

Starting with photographs we captured ourselves, including aerial drone photography, we hand-illustrated a unique logo for the parish. At the heart of the illustration is the Church of Saint Thomas the Apostle, while the parish house and kindergarten are subtly integrated into the composition, reflecting that this is much more than a church building. It is a place of worship, community, education, and belonging.

The oak tree, a meaningful symbol in Orthodox tradition, became an essential part of the logo, representing strength, resilience, deep roots, and spiritual growth. Every line of the illustration was carefully hand-drawn based on the actual architecture of the church complex, resulting in a visual identity that is completely authentic and unique to this community.

Alongside graphic design, we had the opportunity to help create a visual archive through documentary photography, preserving meaningful moments in the life of the community.

We believe that photography is more than documenting an event. It is a way of preserving identity, sharing values, and creating memories that will continue to tell their story for generations to come.

Throughout our collaboration, we documented a number of significant church and cultural events, including the consecration of the newly acquired Church of Saint Thomas the Apostle led by Vladika Grigorije of Düsseldorf and Germany, as well as parish celebrations and community gatherings in Albstadt, Bitz, and Villingen-Schwenningen.

Over the years, we have had the opportunity to contribute through a variety of projects in graphic design, documentary photography, and videography. We are grateful for the trust we have received and for the opportunity to be part of stories that carry lasting value.
